St. Joan of Arc Catholic School
Bettendorf, Iowa
Our team partnered with St. Joan of Arc Catholic School in Bettendorf, IA, to design and deliver a new 2,075 sq ft foodservice facility. The project created a modern, efficient space to support the needs of a growing student population while staying within a carefully managed budget.
We developed the design and bid documents, worked with Russell Construction as the construction manager, and partnered with Stafford Smith as the equipment dealer. Key contributors included Solutions Engineer Luke Green, serving as a K-12 specialist, and Designer Christy Hodnefield, who ensured the layout aligned with the school’s long-term needs.
The main challenge was balancing limited funding with input from multiple committees. By maintaining open communication and focusing on value-driven solutions, our team delivered a cost-conscious, functional design that now provides St. Joan of Arc Catholic School with a brand-new facility to support their expanding enrollment.
Olathe Innovation Center
Kansas City, Kansas
The Olathe Innovation Center in Kansas features a state-of-the-art culinary program designed to support hands-on training for students pursuing careers in hospitality and foodservice. The facility includes a full commercial kitchen, a student-run restaurant open to the public, and a separate coffee shop.
The culinary spaces span over 5,700 sq ft and are designed to reflect real-world foodservice operations. Key areas include a 375 sq ft coffee shop, a 675 sq ft bakery kitchen, a 1,280 sq ft restaurant kitchen, and a 1,950 sq ft teaching kitchen. Support spaces include warewashing, walk-in refrigeration, and dry storage—all built to meet instructional needs while maintaining commercial standards.
The design focused on functionality, safety, and flexibility, ensuring students can train in a professional-style environment that prepares them for culinary school or the workforce.
City High School
Iowa City, Iowa
The City High School Family and Consumer Sciences Room was built in Iowa City, IA. The project was led by Luke Green. This high school offers a culinary program to prepare students for culinary school and/or the workforce.
Six stations allow students to observe real-time demonstrations from the teacher with either the overhead demo mirror or a TV located on the wall. Although the cooking area is compact, students have full access to all equipment under the CORE Style exhaust hood, which allows equipment to be moved and removed as needed. Induction ranges are also located at each station for student use to cook along with the instructor. Electrical cord reels are located overhead and are sized to allow numerous pieces of equipment to match the week’s curriculum.

Linn-Mar High School
Marion, Iowa
The project was led by Luke Green. He stated there was an immediate need to provide a more efficient service line. Prior to the renovation, students were waiting up to 25 minutes to get through the line, leaving them only 5 minutes in their 1/2-hour lunch periods to actually sit down and eat.
As a result of this renovation, the cook staff was delighted to see that on the very first day of service (and with the largest group of students), the service time was reduced to just 10 minutes; less than half the original service time. Since the re-opening, the service times have continued to improve. Clever designs to accommodate traffic patterns and new, more powerful and efficient equipment have provided the students at Linn-Mar the opportunity to actually relax and enjoy their meals.
